Senior Pastor

Mariah and Amos 1

Amos & Mariah Humphries moved to Waco in August 0f 2009. They came from the community of Downriver Detroit where he served as an Associate Pastor of Student/Outreach Ministries at the Gilead Baptist Church of Taylor. They reside in the Waco community of China Spring and have three children: Clay, Juliane and Hannah.

While serving in Taylor Michigan, Amos co-founded the Fish and Loaves Community Food Pantry as well as the Downriver Chaplain Corps. His community involvement included coordinating several area wide events as well as sitting on various committees tackling social concerns. Pastor Amos currently serves as the Chairman of the Board of Cornerstone Assistance Network of Central Texas. He has also been selected to serve as a Fellow of Pastoral Leadership in Public Life, a fellowship of Texas Pastors supported by Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary.

At the core of his philosophy of ministry is James 2:17 “Faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead.” Pastor Amos encourages action from spiritual growth, leading the church to take a balanced approach towards ministry. “God is blessing our congregation with multi-ethnic, multi-generational unity, and it is our calling to pass this wonderful faith to the next generation!”
